34 years ago today....

From The Words of my Mother... I was born on January 12 1979 in the prespyterian hospital.  I delivered at 4:28 and weighed  7lbs 8oz and was 19 1/2 inches long.  My mom named me Sallyann Outcalt.

I guess my mom was really pleased with me because I was already good at eating and especially at crying.

I came home the next day and visited my grandma.  I was very tired so I just slept.  My mom's sister came to help us for a while, she's the one I'm named after.  Well she has a little girl the same age as my big brother.  Well sh really liked me, in fact one time she tried to kiss me and bit me instead.  I got over it though.  My big brother, he didn't like me at first.  I guess when you're used to being the only one for a whole year it's hard when someone else comes along.  Now we seem to have become used to each other.  He's a little rough at times but I'm tough.  I am almost 2 months old now and I must tell you I'm a big baby.  When I went in for my 2 week check up I weighed 9 lbs 11oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. When mom went in for her six week check up she weighed me and I was 12 lbs.  But she did not measure me then.

Now I have already had some falls.  One time I was just sitting in my seat looking out the window and boom down I go it didn't really hurt but it sure scared me.  The next time was just last night.  My mom set me on a chair to get Sam's dinner and smack right on my face.  I'm sure those won't be the last.  I can almost see now.  And I finally figured out how to rearrange my facial expressions and I can smile.  The next thing I am going to work on is some other kind of noise besides crying.  So until then.....

Thank you mom for recording those events in my young months of life!

After reflecting on my life over the past 34 years I can not believe all that I have done!  Though my memory has been failing me for the past 5 years.  I can remember some events in my life, ones that have emotional ties to them.

I remember the first time I got to go to the temple.  I was able to attend the Chicago Temple open house!  My mother and my brother Seth and I were able to go together!  I remember the feeling of peace and beauty that I felt there!  It was amazing!

I remember the time my brother and I were walking to school and he threw an empty pepsi can into a car that was passing by.  I was scared spitless   The car stopped and we ran into the corn field.  The guy could not find us and he drove off.  I was pretty scared....  I must have been 5 or 6 at the time.

I remember the time when we lived with my Aunt Sally and my mom wanted to cut my hair.  So Mom put it in a pony tail and cut it off.. I cried and then put on a hat and that was that.  I was a third grader!

We moved to Arizona and I had some amazing friend!  My favorite times there were with my friends.  We would take turns on the weekends meeting at each others house!  Playing games and eating yummy food!  That is where I first started going to stake dances for church!  I had my first crush and held a boys hand for the first time.  If my memory still corroperated with me I could but Oh well!  I remember his dad was a funeral director.  He was a nice guy and we had lots to talk about....

We moved to Pasco Washington and that is where I graduated from High School.  I loved seminary!  It was fun.  For the first time in my life I read all the scriptures from start to finish!  What an accomplishment for me that was!!  I had many missionary experiences as well!  A few good friends were able to hear the gospel and one received it!  What a joy that was to see the changes in her life!  I was also quite into sports!  I ran Cross country and loved it!  Although I was not found of our course, but I endured the sand dunes and the hills that came with it!  I ran track!  The races were fun! I ran in every JV and Varsity meet all the years that I was on the team!  I lettered all 3 years I did track and cross country!  My senior year I devoted all my time to Sports medicine!  I loved it!  I was able to help others!  I went to every foot ball and basket ball game there was for all the teams!  It was quite fun!  We also  competed and went on trips to different sports med camps!  I went on some amazing temple trips with good leaders and wonderful friends!  Our temple was the Seattle temple so it was a 4 hour drive!  Fun times!  I had the best friend ever there!  April Willoughby! Her and I had so much in common and within a few months we did every thing together!  Love that girl!

I then moved onto my next stage in life!  Good old college!  I had some of the fondest memories and growing experiences of my life!  My first summer was a blast doing fun things like going to the sand dunes to the water falls with the best people ever!  I made some amazing friends most of which I am still in contact with today!!  I did some fun summer service projects.  We shoveled sand into bags and then stacked the sand bags in an effort to save homes from rising flood waters.  I also was able to go on a summer trip to watch the Manti pageant.  One of those experiences that you never forget and always want to repeat!  I remember going over to some guys house that we met some how and they became the best!  We did almost everything together!  They were at our house or we were at there house all summer long!  I still see them every once in awhile!  There were many favorite classes that I took.  All the religion classes I took were great!  And the best part of the classes was I could take as many as I wanted to!  I often doubled up on the religion classes!  I loved mission prep class it was a favorite of mine!  I also loved all my English classes!  I love writing and learning more about everything!  But a tie in my favorite classes would have to be Field Biology and Flower arranging!  I love both of those things!  I am a fresh flower kind of girl!  And making arrangements out of flowers that I find in nature to brighten up my day is sometimes just what I need.  Growing my own flowers has been a hobby of mine ever sense!  And then field biology was the best class with all of my favorite things to do wrapped up into one class!  I did so many fun things!  Hiking, to start off with.  Then as we got into winter we snow shooed looking at many different things in the forest!  How thing grew, and how they lived!  We cross country skied.  We winter camped!  We rode horses!  We learned so many different things about so many different plants it was amazing!  I learned that forest fires were natures way of cleaning up!  I met some great friends and gained an even more appreciation for nature and all that it has to offer!  Often when things would get to  hard I would pack up for the weekend and head for the hills!  One of my favorite and most peaceful enjoyments of life!  Yes I was that girl that brought a tent and camping gear with me to college and my roommates and I had some good times!  It was used often!  Another hobby I got into in college was geneology!  I loved it and ever sense then it has been a passion of mine!  I can feel of those spirits needing and wanting their work done!  Some habbits die and some just grow in intensity!

I graduated from college and moved to Idaho where I was able to get a job working for a resort company as  an appointment setter.  Most people would hate a job like this but to me it was one of the funnest jobs I have ever had!  Calling random people and setting them up to come in and look at our condos and buy into them! I was quite sucessesfull in doing so!  I got many people to come in and always hit all my bounces and always won lots of prizes!  While working all week was long and hard I looked forward to the weekends where I would escape off to the mountains with my tent and bag in hand!  Often setting up camp late and hiking all the next day!  What a fun time in life that was!  I yearn to one day have that opportunity again!

Yet another stage in my life began as I started dating my Husband.  I know there has to be some happy moments in there but my memory and mind has blocked out many of them.  I remember things that I did but many of them not as a family!  I remember flying to Kansas to see my family during Christmas and loved being with family at Christmas time.  I had not with family for Christmas for 2 years and it was good to see them!  I remember my dad coming to pick me up and drive me back to Kansas, a long drive for all of us.  Maddie was a baby then and she was a car cryer... I remember a fun adventure taking 3 small children on an  airplane all by myself.  That was for me fun.  Every one else thought I was crazy.  But I would do it again and now I have 6 children!  Bring it on!  I remember going to a cattle ranch round up to brand all the new cows! That was cool!  I remember also we went up to the owyhee mountains and looked for arrowheads!  I found an 1880 penny up on a dessert mountain.  It was really cool!  I gave that coin to my sister Amy years later as she developed a love for coin collecting!  I wish there were more that I could remember from this era in my life.  It was hard and I blocked out a lot of things I guess!  I hope as I continue to try and remember things I can begin to recall more.

I get frustrated at my memory and if I do not write things down in a timely manner then they are gone!  And so my last 34 years are now briefly recorded!  That is one thing I can now cross off my list!  Yeah for me!!
